Deadline reminder

All of your production work must be completed by the end of Friday March 26th. By then you will need to have created a folder on the iMac you were working on labelled “AS 2010 XX coursework” (XX is your group letter and number – D1, for example). It should contain:

  • Your completed video as a .MOV file. This must include a slide at the beginning containing your full names and candidate numbers.

Menu updates

Please could you add the ‘Archives’ widget to your Blogrolls for both your individual and group blogs, and tick the box about numbers of posts. This will make it easier to navigate your blogs as they get fuller.

Video test

I’ve now set up a Vimeo account for the Year 12 AS groups. Ask your teacher for the login and password! You can upload video to VIMEO in .MOV format (which is great for exporting from the Macs) and within half an hour or so it will have converted it into a flash video file you can embed in your blog. Vimeo also supports a wide range of other video formats.

To embed your video straight into your page, simply type {vimeo 1234567}, using the unique reference number for your video provided by vimeo – you’ll see it on your vimeo page once your video has been encoded. Important: use [square brackets] instead of curly ones! That’s all there is to it!

Here’s an example:

What you should be blogging…

Here are some guidelines of what we’d like to see in your coursework blogs, with dates we’d like to see them finished by. These particularly apply to groups A and D – group C will be catching up, don’t worry!

Print these out and tick them off as you complete each one. Don’t forget to check for teacher comments in case there are ways for you to improve your posts.

OVERDUE – These should already be done

Group Blogs
  • Repertoire of Elements for your genre, based on your individual research
  • Your production pitch (modified and improved following class feedback)
  • Links to your individual blogs.
  • Production schedule: what you will do when.
  • Notes and pictures from your recce
  • Discussion of target audience
  • Script
  • Storyboard (no more time for animatics!).
  • Finish (with title cards and candidate numbers) your prelimary task and upload.
  • Write a titles list; design production company logos and choose titles font; create and blog about your soundtrack.
  • Remember, these jobs can be shared between you in your group, then reviewed together.
Individual Blogs
  • Textual analysis of the film opening you analysed for genre research
  • Link back to your group blog.
  • Your individual evaluation of your preliminary production task: what techniques worked well, what didn’t, what have you learned about pre-production, production and post that you will apply to this new production. Post the film on VIMEO and embed it in your blog.
  • Keep a production diary on YOUR OWN role within the group production: log every contribution to pre-production, production and post, including your contributions to the group blog. Keep this in brief note form – ‘tweats’ if you can, except where textual analysis is appropriate.

STILL TO COME

There is still your evaluation to write. You will be getting guidance on this before the end of term, and will draft it over Easter.

DON’T FORGET!

The deadline for your production work to be finished is Friday March 26th. You will NOT be allowed to continue post-production work after this date. Please remember that D6 is open for coursework surgeries every Monday and Thursday after school.

Salesian AS Media Blogs

Hi Year 12.

Just a reminder – the Salesian AS 2010 Blog belongs to the TEACHERS! The subsidiary blogs (linked on the right) belong to you as groups. Please don’t post here, or change the profile or appearance of the blog – it doesn’t belong to you!

I’ve seen some encouraging presentations this week, especially from 12D, and look forward to seeing these translated into blog entries as you start planning your productions.
